In The Presence Of Historical Fashion!

I was recently invited to a fundraising event at the FIDM museum! They held a fabulous launch party for the preservation of historical fashion. The event was curated by the passionate and knowledgable, Kevin Jones, and I was absolutely blown away to have had the opportunity to be in the presence of true fashion history! Each delicate piece is dated between 1600-1950, and these period pieces took sometimes over a month to construct just one gown, it was true couture! What’s even more fascinating is that these stunning works of art and labor were simply used in their daily lives to attend dinner or outdoor events. The textiles and fabrics are handmade, some are even sewn in gold! It really is impossible not to appreciate the details that go into every piece that you see! FIDM is trying to raise money to preserve these historical fashion pieces, and I encourage everyone who reads this to donate! Even $1 can make a difference!
